Recap of WSA Cape Charles Respite Weekend, June 4-6, 2010

By Larry Bocchiere

Cape Charles -  Ray's hospitality was a wonderful weekend enjoyed by 12 well spouses who were able to recharge their lives by relaxation on the bay.

Cape Charles Sunrise on the Dock

Kat managed to bond with OhNo, Ray's resident stray dog, whom she is
adopting. LaLaLu brought her Chihuahua who spent the weekend
chasing
much larger dogs in their own version of respite.

Dinner out on the Town

Friday night we had dinner in town. The rest of the time, Deana kept feeding us
home-made meals " everything from pulled pork to home-made cookies.
  (I
think I proposed to her after the biscuits and gravy.)

View from theChesapeake Bay Bridge

Don's bucket list included driving the Chesapeake Bay Bridge (it is truly an engineering marvel).

View of Dock and Boat

Another special moment, trapping crabs off Ray's dock for dinner!  Yum!

The Star of the Show

I was glad to have the chance to meet Janet, Ray's lovely wife, and thank her for sharing her home with us.  The love Janet and Ray share is a bright star.

Special thanks to Ray's daughter Mary and son-in-law Dan who not only
assisted in activities but also relieved Ray from caregiving duties.  Ray's brand
new granddaughter Caroline was the hit of the show when she rolled over!

Thanks to my fellow WSA Online Forum Moderators Dorothy, Kat and Linda Lady (her first respite!) for taking the time to have a Moderator meeting.

Belly Dancing Lesson Incognito

And yes there was a belly-dancing class, but the gentlemen were unable to get it right!

It is always so exciting to meet the people you have been in touch with on the forums. Instant friends are formed at each and every Respite weekend.

Ray thank you for sharing your piece of heaven with us for the weekend. I hope you ALL get to attend a respite soon!  We all left recharged and ready to face another day.
