2009 Rock Hall, MD Respite Weekend

Recap
2009 Rock Hall, Maryland
Respite Weekend

Hats off to the coordinators! And to the lovely locals of wonderful Rock Hall. We had a rip roaring time the first night at Harbor Shack and danced until the wee hours. The band was awesome, with one musician dancing on the floor with us with his cordless guitar while playing. What a hoot! Yes we can dance!

I got up a little late the next morning, but thoroughly enjoyed the delicious breakfast laid out at Swan Haven. The morning choice of exercise was a 7 mile bike ride to the wildlife sanctuary. Did I mention headwind? Gosh, coming back that seat was not comfortable. I am going to have to invest in a cushier one. Lunch was well deserved so ventured back over to the Shack for fajitas. They were to die for. No kidding. Time for a nap.

Finished Saturday night off with an evening sailing cruise... 3 boats of us. Ours was a 43 foot beauty with a wonderful woman named Kathy steering the boat. She was friendly and educational, and WS Rusty got to take his hand at the wheel. We drank wine and scooted along the water as the vibrant coral sun set in the distance. Back at the dock just before dark, and off to Waterman™s where we ate at a huge long table and danced the night away again.

There were several newbie WS in attendance, great to meet them and share their stories. Hugs to you all. One woman, Monica, was certainly having the time of her life, and won't soon forget the warm smiles and well wishes from people that certainly have become family in such a short time.

Sunday morning it was up for another great breakfast at the B&B before meandering down to the water for a turn on one of the many kayaks. The water was warm and inviting, so I chose to swim back in and let another WS tow my boat. Wow! That was a workout.. and a great time.

The Swan Haven has undergone some fabulous renovations under the new ownership and is a gracious family with style and flair. I highly recommend them for any trip to the area.

If you have to choose between your respite weekends... this one is the Big bang for the buck!
