RecapFebruary 2009The Pocono respite weekend was excellent. Fourteen of us gathered for general conversation and support. The hotel supplied a hospitality room for our first night gathering, and the early arrivals went to dinner together that evening. The weather was unusually warm for February. On Saturday (and Sunday) morning we met as a loose group at the free hot breakfast buffet supplied by the Hampton Inn. We then enjoyed sightseeing in nearby Jim Thorpe, a quaint walk-around downtown with beautiful architecture and wonderful shops. A few of the ladies took advantage of a local spa for some much-needed relaxation while others toured and enjoyed afternoon tea at local shop. Saturday we all had an early dinner at an excellent Italian restaurant called Macaluso's, followed by the Beatlemania Now production at Penn's Peak concert hall. I can only say that the time ended too soon. I hope everyone that can attends a respite weekend - a chance to meet people from across the country - and to be a part of a group where your own circumstances are the "norm" and everyone understands. As one participant succinctly put it "Instant Friends". Larry B.
