anoher newbieI'm glad to find this site - I've been reading it for the last couple of days, and just signed on.
My partner's been in a wheelchair for the last 2 weeks, either because of a brain tumor (one stupid tumor) or the several radiation treatments she's had for the tumor. We're still in the frantic stage of getting things in place (ramp, the right chair, some way to do transfers that doesn't risk an EMT visit, etc), and I will post more questions to "resources" once I know this works.... IS's legs no longer work due to either solitary brain metastasis (orig. breast cancer) or radiation treatment for it. Still on chemo. Went from cane to wheelchair in 3 weeks.

Hello,
I've been following some of the threads for a while so I guess I'm ready to jump in. My IS has ppMS is basically a quad. My chosen career is working with preschool special ed kids. You can imagine how tired I am at the end of the day. We have one daughter 20 y-o who is just beginning to try life out out of the critical eye of her dad. So I often feel very alone. Life goes on. thanks for being here.
Welcome, reallysara. You must live in my backyard!! My zip is 22032 and I run the northern Virginia support group. I hope you'll join us at our next meeting -- we meet the 3rd Monday of every month in the evening, and get together for lunch on the first Sat. of the month. Many of the regulars are dealing with MS.
Caregiver for 30+ years to C-4 quadriplegic shot during a robbery at age 21. He practices law full time; we have two 20-something sons.
trying my first postHello, I have just recently discovered this site and it is just what I need right now.. Have been a full-time caregiver for 2 years, and look forward to seeing how others deal with their 'life-altering change'. I thought I was handling mine well, but now realize my own health needs attention.
IS confined to wheelchair since '04, diabetes Type 2, osteomyletis, chronic renal insuff., and bowel dysfunction. Now with 'infectious' kidney stones which cause continual UTI's.
Welcome Judy. Life of a caregiver is never easy. Much less if the caregiver also works outside the home. It's true our health and well being is as important as the ppl we are caring for.

Welcome Judy. I think you hit the nail on the head. WS's must take time for their own health. I am just doing that after 8 years of caregiving. So glad that you realized that sooner.

All of the suden any problems that I may have seem very insignificant. I logged on to vent, but there is nothing important to vent about.
