Dues and Mailings

Postby Dave » Thu Apr 12, 2012 11:00 am

I joined this forum several years ago, but really haven't had much use for it yet... maybe I just don't need what WSA offers. That said, I think it's a good resource for many people and it's an organization I wouldn't mind supporting with $30 in annual dues. I'd prefer to do this without receiving mailings that my IS would see, however.

Unfortunately, it seems that my mailing address is required for credit card processing, and you don't take PayPal, so my contribution is going to compromise anonymity. That's not going to happen unless there's assurance that I'll receive NO mailings or phone calls from WSA or affiliates.

So: is there a way to be a "silent" contributor, or should I look elsewhere if I ever want to participate in a peer forum of some sort?

Along the same line, now that I get mailings via email, I can't remember when my dues are due. (OK, quit laughing, I'm having an ADD day).

I am probably behind and don't even know it.

Dave, pretty much everything is via e-mail now - and unless you give out your phone number I don't imagine you'll be getting any phone calls.

Dave, it's wonderful that you haven't needed this forum, yet you see the value and want to support the rest of us. Thank you!

I have been here a long time and never get mail or email I haven't requested. I have never gotten a phone call from WSA although the office does have my number. I don't believe there are any "affiliates".

This is a nonprofit group and no one has anything to gain by knowing your true identity. Frankly, I doubt anyone would care if you are Tim Thomas or OJ. We're all Well Spice here and that's all that matters, IMHO. I am a contact in my area but only my email is provided per my request. I believe our anonymity is very safe here.

That said, would you be comfortable sending your donation via a money order or certified check? Cash? There must be some way to do this without revealing your identity.

I'm glad you don't need us, but if you ever do please know you are welcome and safe here. I have no clue who you are!

And Katt, I have no idea when my dues are due either. I have three PM's that may be trying to tell me but I can't open them.

Thanks again, Dave. Here are some hugs whether you need them or not. ((((((Dave))))))

David:

We no longer mail out Mainstay. We do not EVER share membership information with any other entity.

We do mail out letters, usually twice per year soliciting donations as all non-profits do (I am sure you receive a few now from groups you are not affiliated with) and the letters do not identify you as a member.

If you wish to make a totally anonymous donation each year PM me - you can send the funds to me and I will insure forum access continues for you.

Thanks for thinking of us.

Larry

Good enough for me; I've joined. Who knows, maybe now it'll occur to me to drop by once in a while.

Thanks, all. You're good people.

I hope you do drop by once in a while.... you're pretty much the only other person here besides me whose IS has Cerebral Palsy. I'm kinda glad to know I'm not the only one here in the CP 'club'.

One of the best things about our forum is that you two can get together through PMs or email and form your own 'support group'!

Just click on the PM notice in the lower left to send one to any member (referencing their post)

Me too! Is there a way we can log into the web site and find out our membership renewal dates?

According to our programing we will send out renewal dates on the cover page of your Mainstay link with each issue. We will attempt to also attach this date to your copy of Member Minute.

Richard is also looking at programming the home page to show renewal date when you log in to our site.

We will keep you posted on developments.

Maureen, when you receive Mainstay the home page will have that info. However, you can PM me with name and address and I will look it up, or you can call the office 800-838-0879 and either Carol or Donna can assist you.
