Generally useful acryonyms:
WS - wellspouse
IS - illspouse
WD - well daughter
WS - well son
IP - ill parent
NH= Nursing Home
LOL = laughing out loud
FYI = for your information
IMHO = in my humble opinion (a disclaimer to say that maybe only I think this - the humble part may be overstated
Medically related acronyms:
TBI - traumatic brain injury
ABI - acquired brain injury
MS - multiple sclerosis
CFS - chronic fatigue syndrome
ADRD - Alzheimer's disease and related dementia
ALS - Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis, Lou Gehrigs Disease (not Alzheimer's)
BP - blood pressure
PT - patient
COPD - Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease -which are many, including emphysema (from smoking or not), bronchiectasis (stretched out pockets of the bronchia filled with mucus)
RA= Rheumatoid arthritis
Sarc = Short for "sarcoidosis" (for more about sarcoidosis, please visit the National Sarcoidosis Resource Center at http://www.nsrc-global.net/
ESRD - End Stage Renal Disease
IBS - Irritable Bowel Syndrome

My best friend and IS has had Chronic Fatigue Syndrome since July 1999
Thank you so much for putting this here as i did not know what IS was when i first started thanks as now if i get stuck will visit here so i know thanks russ
me 41;full time carer of 34 year old wife who has hypoxic brain damage,lupus,fibra mialga,shergrains deases,arthritis ,incontence of bowl and urine,can no longer walk talk or use hands

I spell 'em all out 'cuz I have CRS syndrome. ( Can't Remember Sh*t). Wife passed away 08/09/10 due to the ravages of Multiple Sclerosis.

FIS died 9/1/08. It was her CHF, COPD, and Atrial Fibrulation that hospitalized her the last time. Both WS and FIS are women who retired in 1997 and had lived together almost 19 years.
