Welcome Breezy.
FIS died 9/1/08. It was her CHF, COPD, and Atrial Fibrulation that hospitalized her the last time. Both WS and FIS are women who retired in 1997 and had lived together almost 19 years.

I'm using the Forum for the first time, although I've been a WSA member for 2 yrs now. I was prompted to do so by the e-mail survey I just got. I had a fight w/ my husband this morning, and WSA felt like a good place to go w/ it. The kind WSA responder suggested the Forum as a tool, so I am trying it out now, just dipping my toes in the water, so to speak. We'll see how it turned out. Sally

(((SSallyBrice)))

the stress of constant care and worry causes a lot of disagreements. That is why caring for ourselves is so important, and many IS just do not see that.

I am glad you have ventured into posting with us. We work out a lot of stress, losses, victories and questions here in the forums. Hope to hear more from you soon.

Thanks for the welcome. I'm still trying to find my way around the site. I care for my husband who has had spinal cord cancer (astrocytoma) for 13 years. We enjoyed 12 years in remission - painful, but not growing or incapacitating. Last Spring it came back with a vengeance. This time surgery left him a paraplegic and in a lot of serious pain. Complications since then have made things even worse. Right now we're trying another chemo, but so far nothing is stopping it this time. He manages to care for himself while I'm at work, but our lives have been turned upside down and our dreams for our retirement will never happen. Adjustment is so hard, and its completely possible that his physical status will continue to decline. I'm discovering that this is a terribly lonely place to be

Testing my posting abilities ;) I am so grateful I found this site. The tears have finally come after three years of...well I refer to it as my "Nightmare Soap Opera", Not just his issues but all the issues that have gravitated to our small world because of his medical problems. My husband is well-loved so I find myself taking care of all those who are affected (friends, extended family, community). Sometimes I do wonder "What about me?" I miss my husband, my best friend and what we had. We are trying to find that "new normal". It is so hard.
Massive stroke, May 2010; GM Seizures, March 2012; Congestive heart failure, Jan 2013; ICD placed. He is just 47.
