Thank you :) I will post my story when I figure out what it is, ironically I never thought about it until yesterday, I feel like I have been putting out fires for three years with no break. No time to think about things except how to put out the next fire! LOL! Raising Five kids (only two left at home! YAY!), father passed in May 2012, being an only child made that rather difficult :) My Mama needed me...as much as I could spare. Wow, I am not sure I want to think about it all!
I do know this, reading all the posts on this site has helped me. I don't feel so alone or crazy..ok, crazy I have always been, so maybe I mean stressed? Life is what we make it? Right? Peace and Love
Massive stroke, May 2010; GM Seizures, March 2012; Congestive heart failure, Jan 2013; ICD placed. He is just 47.

Wow-your signature says a lot, especially with kids at home and at a young age.

Sorry about Dad - we are never ready for that.

I am glad you are now looking for some balance in your life. We need each other.

Welcome (((((((asites)))))

You said you need to figure out your story. In your last post you told enough about yourself for anyone to respond. Later you can add more. If you wish to post just repeat that last one in Health and Healing to get the most exposure.
FIS died 9/1/08. It was her CHF, COPD, and Atrial Fibrulation that hospitalized her the last time. Both WS and FIS are women who retired in 1997 and had lived together almost 19 years.

Do others feel guilty for being healthy? Selfish for wanting a life?

Welcome (((Emily)))

ALL THE TIME!

But we get over it! It is not your fault your spouse is ill or that you are well. We give much of ourselves, many do this for decades (my wife was ill 17 years). The only way to stay sane is to put on your own oxygen mask first!

You need to do things for YOU - a walk, a trip, time with friends, as you say, a life (albeit it truncated)! Then you can be better at caring for your spouse too.

Glad you have found us. Please introduce yourself on help and healing, our most widely read forum.

Remember - NO GUILT!

Maybe when we first come here but we'll get you over it. You have nothing to feel guilty about and you deserve a life separate from your IS, just as you would if you were both healthy. I know it's not the same and not what we wanted but we do whatever we must to survive and carry on.

Welcome to our family. Please tell us about yourself when you feel like it. Here are some hugs for now. I'm guessing you could use them. ((((((EmilyK))))))
