WS (59) to IS (67) Separated. Parapelegic from injuries suffered in Viet Nam in 1967. PTSD, Chronic pain... too many surgeries to mention.
Re: New here ....first postWelcome Sara!! I too am fairly new here but already feel so welcomed by everyone. I suspect it will be the same for you. This is just the best community to land in! Everybody seems to laugh, cry, help each other so willingly and lovingly. It helps to read back through previous posts...I have learned much!

Caregiver for 30+ years to C-4 quadriplegic shot during a robbery at age 21. He practices law full time; we have two 20-something sons.

I see that you have another post, so I am headed over there. Kat Married for 42 years. Caregiver for 13 yrs. IS died of COPD Feb. 10, 2011. Combat related disabled veteran.

IS Dx MS 1990 - stroke 2007- triplegic - spcatheter - eyesight problems - limited use of rht hand, some cognitive deficit

FIS died 9/1/08. It was her CHF, COPD, and Atrial Fibrulation that hospitalized her the last time. Both WS and FIS are women who retired in 1997 and had lived together almost 19 years.

Sorry you needed to find us but you will have an understanding ear, a shoulder to lean on and a 'family' that knows that the Well Spouse loses nearly as much as the Ill Spouse in the relationship. We care about you (and your spouse and family) - your need to de-stress, your need for validation. Here we have face-to-face support group meetings wherever possible with other Well Spouse. If you know anyone in your area caring for an ill spouse or partner you would not believe how good it can be to just get together for a meal and a beer(?). Jump on whenever you are ready - this is a supportive group. Be thankful the thornbushes have roses!
