A couple of users suspect that their computers may have been infected by a virus through the images that have recently been posted on the boards. As far as we can tell, this is possible.
Please see the following security bulletin from microsoft.
http://www.microsoft.com/technet/securi ... 4-028.mspx
*** It is extremely important to apply the most recent security updates available at least monthly ***
We have two options from here:
1. I could disable all commands with square brackets including the image and quote features. This would mean that people could still post links to offsite but users would see the link rather than the image.
2. To depend on users to maintain their software up to date and alert you if other situations arise.
3. To make a Bulletin Board policy to disallow users from posting images.
For now, I have chosen option #2. As I see it, if a virus exists and a computer does not have the updated security software, the computer is bound to pick the virus up somewhere.
I appologize for any inconvenience this might have caused you and hope that we don't have too many of these situations in the future.
Please don't hesistate to contact me if there are other computer viruses that you suspect your computer might have picked up here.
