2011 Bucks County, PA Respite Weekend PDF Print E-mail

Weisel Hostel

September 2011
Weisel Hostel - Bucks County, Pennsylvania

RECAP - The weather was cool and sunny as 18 well spouses gathered for the weekend at the Weisel Hostel, a 100-year old country estate situation in the tranquil setting of Nockamixon State Park in historic Bucks County.

Friday night we had dinner at Becker's Corner, an old one-room school house converted into a great restaurant.  It was very rustic and charming.  After dinner we returned to the hostel, lit a fire in the huge family room and played Scattegories.

Saturday we went in many different directions.  Some enjoyed the "finds" at the Quakertown Farmers' Market, others visited the Moravian Tile Museum and Mercer Museum, while a few hiked in the park or relaxed with a book.

We had our own happy hour before dinner with warm snacks and cold beverages.  Dinner was at the Old Bethlehem Road Hotel, a 260+year old stone house which was rumored to have been host to Generals Washington and Lafayette, and a stop on the Underground Railroad.

Sunday Jeanne treated us all to home made blueberry pancakes for breakfast, and Tom stopped by with incredible, fresh donuts from his bakery.

Before we knew it, it was time to pack up and go home.....until next year.
